Thanks for everyone's help so far.

I am using a laptop and have always used this to access FindMyPast.  It's just that over the last week or so, the display has changed.

I always start at the SEARCH option, this takes me to (1) the screen where I fill in the details of the required individual, this takes me to (2) the List of Results from where I select one of interest (original document or transcription). When I leave this stage I am taking back to (2), but I don't see any way of getting back to (1) to make minor changes to the original search.

I didn't realise that a laptop made such a big difference

Technical Help / Searching Find my Past
« on: Monday 16 June 25 11:52 BST (UK)  »
I'm sure it must be me (it usually is), but when I use Find-My-Past and enter the name, DOB etc for a person, the list of Results appears as usual. I click the item on the list that looks relevant, to view, say the original census return, then that all behaves as usual.  But when I return to the list of results, I can't remember how to go back to the original page of details to make changes (say) to the spelling of a name.

Can anyone help an old man out here?

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Re: Fred Sharp [1882-1962] of Halifax *COMPLETED*

I couldn't find a suitable FRED or MARGARET / SHARP or SHARPE in the 1939 register, so I'll put this on the back burner for now.

Thanks again to all

Oops! Thanks, Pennines.

I had never thought about searching for Sharpe because the name is recorded as Sharp in the newspapers and other local sources.

Perhaps I should go back to square one with this man.

Thanks to all who waded through my stupidity

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Fred Sharp [1882-1962] of Halifax
« on: Tuesday 11 February 25 14:01 GMT (UK)  »
I am filling in some details about Fred Sharp for my Calderdale Companion, and I have encountered a puzzle with his wife.  The only census that I can find (1921) identifies her as Margaret E. born in Halifax in 1888. An obituary of Fred's death showed that the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1958 (ie married in 1918). That census also shows children born in 1909, 1911 & 1921 (although I haven't found any likely candidates on FreeBMD).  Could Fred have been married before 1918?

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Yorkshire (West Riding) / Re: Are these 2 Norland chapels the same?

CFHS told me that they had spotted some duplications between burials at the two chapels, but only recently had they accepted that the two listings of the MIs were attributed to different historians and were published long before CFHS appeared on the scene.

The CFHS contact said that he will make sure that notification of the situation is announced to the membership.

Thanks to everyone who help unravel this mystery

Thanks very much, Alan.

I went to Google Maps as you directed, and saw that the Memorial stone identifies the Chapel as Mount Zion Primitive Methodist.  A closer look at the tall grave with an urn on top, reveals that it was the stone of James E. Crabtree who appears in the CFHS collection of MIs at New Longley Primitive Methodist.

So I shall take BumbleB's advice and ask the CFHS about this matter

Thanks again
