Kent Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Pitt 1841 census Maidstone

Just thought Fee, l know its a long shot but do you have any photos of Charles and William Henry and do you know what happened to there brother Fredrick and sister Hester Pearce Pitt? Ive lost track of them.
I pretty sure that that is our family in clewer fields it all seems to match but by all accounts it was a very ruff area so why Roger went there and left his shop in Maidstone l don't know. From Charles down to my granddad there are several mystery's.

HI Fee
I tried to find someone related to William Henry Pitt (my Charles only had one son) but l lost the family when William died in 1882.
I don't know what you know of the Pitts? I can say l have most of the certs and proof of the tie in with our Roger and the Tiverton Roger Pitt, the records on the net from our relative in Australia are Baptism records and the actual birth dates are very diffrent as l am finding out (Ive just brought copy's of the Tiverton parish records on film). On the net it seems we have several sets of twins but we don't, it seems that the Pitt clan kept on changing religion and having the kids baptized years after they were born, something that still carries on with my aunties to this day.
Did you know Charles and William married sisters? the Westlakes.
I'm just putting the family back onto the computer as l lost the lot when a bug was downloaded and whipped my hard drive, so l cant send you any info in gencom form, but here is my email address and you tell me what you have and l will send you copy's of what l can. email address removed by moderator - please use the secure Rootschat personal message system to exchange personal email addresses thankyou
Where abouts do you live? I'm in Norfolk moved from London in 1975.
Just thought l don't know if you are with GenesReunited on the net but l have a family tree (a little old now) on there. If you are a member contact me through that and l will open my tree to you.
I look forward to hearing from you  Fee
Take Care

Hi Bearkat and Troods
This is really getting intriguing, I have found my Charles Sidney in the 1861 census living just round the corner to Roger and Jane Pitt, there are no other Charles Sidney's in the 1861 or 1871 censuses , there are no deaths of a Charles S between 1851 and 1861 so it looking very much like Charles and Roger are related if not father and son.
I have sent of for the death certs of Roger and Jane to see if that can give any clues and also we are going to Maidstone this Friday and Saturday to have a look at the 1841 census and look for Charles's birth.
I will let you know how we get on.
Again thank you so much for the info
Take care
Tony :D

Thank you Bearkat
This could be very interesting my Charles was a Clerk all his life, the age is correct and the birth place also correct the fathers name doesn't match the marriage certs but he may have changed the name around or living with a uncle for some reason. This is my direct family but it is very tight lipped and seems to have as a distant cousin said skeletons in the cupboard.
Thanks again Bearkat your so kind

Norfolk Lookup Requests / Re: BELAUGH Grave photo ???
« on: Sunday 09 October 05 13:20 BST (UK)  »
hi Sarah
Went to the grave yard, had a look around, not a sign of Elizabeths grave, i thought it seemed funny that someone had seen it before then my wife looked at your email and told me the Belaugh grave yard we were in was infact spelt Bylaugh oops!! so we looked on the map and saw it your Belaugh was only 15 miles away so of we went.what a lovely little village just the one little road into it which terminates there and a steep road down to the river of that road is a little track that leads up to the church. To get into the grave yard from the church car park you climb up these wooden steps and just inside the yard is the stone you wanted me to photograph. i took several photos but l cant see how l can send them on this sight, if you give me your email address l can send them then unless you know how to send photos on this sight?
Anyway l sat on the well mown grass and wrote down what was on the stone just in case you cant make it out on the photos.
To The Memories of ELIZABETH The wife of  Joshua Culling of this parish, who was accidentally killed at Sprowston on the 2nd of Feb 1839 in the 52nd year of her age.
Then l noticed next door to that stone was.
Sacred to the memory of Matilda the beloved wife of Thomas Harvey and second daughter of Joshua and Eliz h Culling of this parish, who departed this life Sept 28th 1833 aged 20 years.
reader seek not on this perishable stone any eulogium of her many virtues, they are far more indelibly engraved on the hearts of her surviving parents, her afflicted husband and her infant child and sympathizing friends.
I did look around foe more related stones but there were none.
I hope this will help you Sarah let me know about sending the photo's?

All the best
Tony
