US Lookup Requests / Re: Catholic marriage in New York
« on: Monday 06 June 11 17:30 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Thanks for your reply! I'm not sure that's the right marriage as the Henry McCluskey we have married a Margaret.

I have found Henry's arrival in New York on Ellis Island on 12 Oct 1903 and I can find his arrival back in Scotland in 1904. According to the 1911 census they had been married for 7 years. So at some point during his stay in New York he got married. I am told that they married at St Patricks Cathedral.

The 1911 census states that they were born in County Cavan in Ireland.  I really need the marriage record so that I can find out some more detail.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd be grateful, thanks.

Hello

I am looking for the marriage of Henry McCluskey and his wife Margaret in St Patrick's Cathedral in New York in 1903 or 1904. Both were from Co Cavan in Ireland. They emigrated to Scotland shortly afterwards.

If anyone can find their marriage and Margaret's maiden name I'd be extremely grateful.

Thanks, Lucy.

Lancashire / Re: Walton Prison

I went to Liverpool library yesterday and was told they do not have any records for Walton prison.  I am looking for a woman, Elizabeth McCarthy, who gave birth to a daughter in Walton prison in July 1897.  I resorted to looking at the Quarter Sessions and old copies of the Liverpool Echo but to no avail.  I ran out of time so didn't manage to look at the Magistrate Court records.

Thanks for going to all the trouble.  I'll have to think again about my friend Alexander McGarrick!

Thanks for the info.

Do you think it would be worth doing a general search for a McGARRICK family in Marylebone at that time?

If so please could someone do a search for me if they have access to the 1821 census.  I'd be very grateful as I have hit a brick wall.

I too am researching Samuel Shorthouse in Tipton.  I have quite a lot of information about him and his family including some photographs if you're interested.

Did you ever find his death?

Look forward to hearing from you.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / 1851 Census - Fanny LUCAS
« on: Tuesday 04 October 05 19:18 BST (UK)  »
Hope someone can help!

I'm looking for Fanny Lucas and any family in the 1851 census.  She was born in 1849 in St James, Middlesex.  By 1861 she was living in All Souls Marylebone with the Bishop family and a brother Alfred Lucas age 8.

Thanks and fingers crossed.
