Thanks for the info but it is not so easy trying to get a birth certificate for my Grand Parents names.I have contacted many of my living relatives and they also cannot help.I contacted Nottingham to obtain a Birth Certificate for my Father (now deceased) but because I live abroad it really was not easy to obtain a copy.I guess I could find the info on Ancestry.com or Findmypast.com but I cannot really do that at the moment. The only way is that when I return to England I can obtain a copy from the town hall in Nottingham.I was just hopeful that maybe someone on this site may have known some of my past relatives or could give an alternative to getting the info I need    John-David

I was advised to send this message to the Nottingham Board.I am a beginner so if my message repeats itself or is on the wrong board please excuse me.My message is that I wish to find out what my Grand Father and Grand Mothers full names are .I have found all of their children but the information on my Grand Parents only gives their last names. My Grand Father was Marshall and my Grand Mothers maiden name was Williamson. This is not helpful as I cannot go any further back on my research. The only information I have is that there were four children John Henry Marshall Born 1914.Elizabeth.L Marshall born 1917.George Marshall (My Father) born 1924 and Clara Marshall born 1921.I have traced all of them but I only get Mothers maiden name Williamson. All born in Nottingham. If anyone can help I would appreciate it.As I now live abroad it is difficult for me to get any info  John-David

Thanks for your reply.I am hopeful that all the info I have on the Hannah family is enough really,(although I would like to go back further.) As I am a bit of an historian it helps me learn and understand about people who lived in those times. They did not have cars or computers then.It is interesting that Thomas Hannah was a Blacksmith. On my mothers side I have lots of information. However I need to do more research on my fathers side and I find that this site RootsChat is very helpful.  John-David

Hi Suz I thank you for you reply.I do keep records of all the info I have.I mostly get it from census records Infact it was quite easy finding the Hannah family.I am not sure whether I have all the correct facts but it seems that the census must be right.I have records of where they lived and what they did for a living.I find it very interesting really as it appears no one in my family ever talked about their
ancestors and to go back to 1791,Lord Nelson and Napoleon were still alive then.

They had four children John Henry Marshall born 1914.Elizabeth.L Marshall born 1917.George Marshall ( my father ) born 1924 and Clara Marshall born 1921 all from Nottingham. As I live in Germany it is difficult for me to get any more information. If I knew the full names of my Grand Parents it would be easier to do more research.   Thanks John David Marshall    North Germany
