I don't think the Horse and Groom, Ningwood referred to in this thread is the same as that in Pyle Street, Newport. It's about 6 miles distant.

The Horse and Groom, Ningwood is in Shalfleet Census District and the 1861 Census gives Harriett Wilkinson as the Innkeeper.

There is an area described as 'New Village' in Freshwater, it's off Camp Road. I don't think it's what you're looking for as it was in Calbourne registration district, rather than Newport.

Unfortunately my copy of this census is not particularly clear.

Address appears to be Alms House (the one above is Brick Kiln):

Sarah Curtis  56  Born outside County
Stephen Curtis 18 Ag Lab Born in County
Charles Curtis 16 Ag Lab Born in County
Illegible 14  No occupation/whether born in county

Would those asking for 1841 census info note that it is not indexed and it is a case of going through all relevant pages.

Sorry, I don't have information about anywhere else in Surrey, my parish records only cover Frensham (where my ancestors came from). Try the Surrey Board.

The only William Coombs I can find on my Microfiche of Parish Record Christenings in Frensham (Surrey) is:

William Coombs christened 24 December 1820 son of James and Elizabeth Coombs. James was stated to be a papermaker.

The previous entry for a William was in the 1760's and he appears to have died when he was 2.

Siblings are (Christening date):
Mary Ann  11 April 1819
Peter  13 April 1823
Edward 18 December 1825 (shown as Coomber)

Other Coombs which appear in the 19th Century are
Henry 1829 (burial)
Susannah 1833 (burial)
James 1837 (burial)
Eliza 1840 (christened parents Stephen and Mary Ann)

I'm afraid I don't have any other Surrey/Hampshire microfiche, but I hope this is of help,

It's certainly still there. There is a book about Ryde Pubs, Ryde Pubs - An Illustrated History, by Kevin Mitchell published in 1999 which may well include the Simeon Arms (I don't have a copy)

It's a bit away from the Town Centre, just off the Esplanade, and is in the Good Beer Guide 2006.

Isaac Cohen     60   General Dealer   Born in County
Clara Cohen     20                        Born in County
Esther Cohen    15                       Born in County
Rebecca Cohen  15                     Born in County
Amelia Cohen   14                       Born in County
Jacob? Cohen    7                        Born in County

I can't locate Jacob Samuel in White's Row. This may be because of the poor quality of part of the pages, rather than his absence
