::)  Sorry, I'm a dill I know.  The first definate relative I can confirm is Samuel Warren born 13 July 1704 St Just In Penwith, married a Mary Mitchel born 1709. Children were Mary Richard Ann Samuel and John, all born in St Just in Penwith.

Son Richard married a Jane Williams, and included in his childred was Loveday Warren, born 1770 in St Just In Penwith,  who married a Henry Curnow, I have as being born in 1769 in Ludgvan, and died 1838 Rospeath, Ludgvan.

A lot of their children came out to Australia, inlcuding Jennifer Jane who married John Warren born 21 March 1783 in St Ives.  Both he and his wife died in Victoria Australia.

Mind you, John's father was William, born in St Just In Penwith, wife Loveday Curnow.  So there you go.

Sorry for not mentioning all this sooner.  Regards, Kettle.

The Lighter Side / Re: Gravestones / Tombstones !

In Melbourne General Cemetery, in Australia, there is a huge monument to Elivs, though of course no body lies within.  And still every anniversary they gather and sing his songs.  My friend who runs the cemetery tours there says it drives her nuts, BUT, to each his own.

I would like to know who pays for and does the upkeep for the graves in the UK, is it the family, the church, the local council, the historical society.  Because I have a wonderful picture I found of a family headstone off the internet, from Madron Cornwall, and it's in lovely condition, as are the surrounds.

Kettle.
