Hi all - I saw the Pm and 'mail - so now I am playing a bit of catch-up and you have me doing some work .. I am recompiling my timeline file on the Mazzas.

Denmark initially threw me for a 6 until I worked out it's in WA and then I nearly laughed myself to death.

Trove articles relating to the almost drowning death in the WA - Denmark river of young Jack Mazzoletti during a life saving demonstration (of course)

Far right edge of page 2 , ‘bout mid way down

More info, roughly about the center of the article

Alice was born around the same time as John Mazzoletti was charged for the stabbing at the Alma Flat gold mining area – I made a note that he actually did not do the deed but another Italian arrested with him admitted to it in the eventual trial which I have listed as being on 8 May 1872. I haven’t been able to “re-find” the actual trial info at this point. If John (Giovanni) did any time for his part in the crime – that could explain the delay in the marriage .. anybody got the trial record to save me a mountain of searching as I couldn’t find it easily ??

Just for everyone’s entertainment  .. In Victoria at Kooyong tennis stadium in 1953 - Not recognizing the President of the Tennis association – a “new” ticket inspector who was called Ernest Mazzoletti refused the President entry into the VIP area because he didn’t have a pass .. I wonder if he got into trouble for that ? ..

Not that it is impossible but I am beginning to doubt that John and Sarah are in fact *Alice's* parents.

Hi Deb ..
If you are still looking - I research the Mazza tree for a friend who is a relative of William Mazzoletti. Some time back – I came across someone else who was also looking at “Alice” being mothered by “France” but taken on as a “Mazza”.

I have lots of bits and pieces of the Mazza puzzle in Victoria and the WA connection is defiantly there. There is an article in one of the WA papers where the son of John Mazzoletti  - a young Jack Mazzoletti (about 12) was rescued from drowning in a river by an onlooker. I can find the articles for you if you wish.
