Okay, well for what it's worth, IMO the chap in the bottom row, fourth from the right has very similar features to the chap in the postcard, particularly the ears and nose, plus bearing in mind that in the comparison photo attached, the chap's mouth in the postcard is my interpretation.

Caz

this is quite amazing

Hi

Was the certificate issued by the GRO or the Local Register Office?

Andy

Andy, I obtained it from the GRO

He also needs to grow a bit Gavin...This is tiny at 24kbs...a scan of 300dpi or 600dpi if the photo is small...and a file size of just below 500kbs is recommended for best results and a good printout. There is a tutorial at the top of the board fro guidance.
Carol

cheers Carol, I will sed a larger pic

Hi there,

this is my grandfather Bill. Could somebody take the crease out of this please?

If anyone would like to have a go at colouring this photo he had very dark brown eyes, black hair, and a complexion that would make you think he was from the Mediterranean.

Thanks in advance.

Gavin

Update 10:19. 23 Jan 15

The definite one is Edmonton but the second is another RD.  Don't use any area - just the surname and maiden name and search period 1945-1955

Thanks for the tip - I did that and got two. Can't be certain they are the children of ADB but it is someone to start, and that is a whole lot better than having nowhere to start.

Hi

Rootschat has a no living persons policy so we would not be allowed to post any details of possible children

The 1945 marriage was in Edmonton and if you use freebmd you will find at least one birth and probably another in the 1940's.  Search for Barnard births with mothers name Graham

www.freebmd.org.uk

Hi Carole,

thanks for the living persons reminder.
I wasn't able to find any births in the Edmonton area the first time round. I'll have another look.

Cheers

Good Morning.

from my research into the Barnard family from Hertfordshire beginning with Dan Barnard (1862-1925) it looks very much to me as if the name in his line has died out since I cannot find evidence of any of his sons having boys who lived to manhood to carry on the name.
My last hope is to find that Arthur D Barnard 1919-1996 who married Elsie J. Graham in 1945 had children.

From the electoral registers of London I have tracked him until 1955, but there is very little sign of him thereafter.

Is anybody able to find reference to him and his wife (and maybe even children) living in the Brighton area from 1955 - 1996?

Fingers crossed

Gavin
