GR2...I had looked at the maps but didn't realise about the slider bar so will have a look at that now

MonicaL...I had read that report, interestingly he was a signalman at Holytown signals at that time as he shows up on the 1901 census but is not mentioned in the report

Thanks for all your help guys, one more question...it is not possible to determine from the os maps but is there any way to find out which was the "blackie" pit, which I know was near the station area

He was a signalman at the Holytown signal box. I did a google search for railway cottages and although nothing specific came up there were cottages for sale/to let in the area so I thought I would ask...thanks for the quick reply though :)

I am doing a bit of family research and my great grand parents lived in the railway cottages at holytown station. Does anyone know where they were situated and if they are still in existence today?
