Hi, yes I managed to get on and have a look, it didn't really give me anything new, the branch I'm following was on there but had the same info as I've got so couldn't get any further really, the Otley one's are a different branch to the Embsay family but it was interesting so thanks.

Thankyou so much, this gives me a bit of hope that I will find what I've been looking for. Still waiting for e-mail to be able to look at the site! I've tried searching as a guest but can't do it, just asked to log in, very frustrating. Will let you know if I get anywhere with it. :)

Thanks for the reply, I'm guessing you're referring to the Otley based family of furniture fame. I have no idea whether my ancestors are part of this family, I will have a look at the link and see what it says...as far as I know my ancestors came from a long line in Embsay/Eastby and Skipton so have my doubts about the Wharfedale ones, it just seems a bit strange that in the Embsay Library there is a reference to a Thomas Chippendale gentleman and I have been wondering 'who' this gentleman was, it can't be the Thomas Chippendale from Otley as it was a totally different time and he moved to London, but I'm intrigued.
Thankyou so much and I'll let you know if I find anything in the link :)

I've reached a brick wall and hope someone out there can help.
Thomas Chippendale born either Skipton or Embsay, WR Yorks in 1562, marriage to Isabel Ingmire Skipton 1602, death 1636 poss Embsay.

Children:
Elizabeth 1602-1602
Ellyne 1606
George 1608-1609
Isabel 1610
Margaret 1619 - married George Phillip Skipton Holy Trinity 1636
Thomas 1615-1686
Peter 1619-1708

I am trying to find out if either of these Thomas' had relatives who were 'gentlemen' and had anything to do with the bankers of Skipton and mill owners of Skipton and Embsay with Eastby. The bank was Chippendale, Netherwood and Carr, the mills were also owned by the same company. The mills were Flax mills in the Washburn Valley, Otley and Skipton in the early 1800's to round about the 1840's.
There is a copy in a local library of a 'lease and re-lease' of Millholme mill Embsay by Thomas Chippendale the elder to Thomas Chippendale the younger dated 1784 who was cousin of Thomas the elder. There was also a later lease 1795. Thomas the elder married Barbara Baldwin at Holy Trinity Skipton in 1775, they had a son Thomas in the same year they married, he was recorded on the marriage record as a gentleman.
There are 2 other marriages, one in 1803 and one in 1809 both Thomas Chippendale, both Holy Trinity. The records I have for Holy Trinity are burials and marriages, no baptisms.
I did look in the library and found the baptism for Margaret Chippendale dau of Thomas in 1613 but am struggling to tie in the other Chippendales.

Any help would be great, I've got very confused with all the Thomas'.

Thankyou..

It's fine. I found the inquest, very interesting I have to say, looks like he was a drinker with the liver problem.  :)

Thankyou I do have the marriage record to Elizabeth, it was Ann I was confused about, thankyou for your help though.

I have found the coroners post mortem report, fascinating reading, I didn't even know this existed on Ancestry. I do find the searches on there don't often bring up results and I end up not using the automatic search options as I seem to get better results that way but this one just didn't bring up anything except the Adlington and Embsay records. I love this forum, everyone here is so helpful and it's very much appreciated :)
