I visited Kenneth Fairley Strathern's grave in Germany last week. Would you please mail me.

Best wishes,

Jan
Hello, Jan. Just read this message from you!
Kenneth Fairley Strathern was my mother's twin brother.

Just came across this chain.  My husband's 2G grandfather, John Murray, and his family were also at this address on the 1871 census.  As some of the occupants were servants, and others agricultural, it seems likely this property housed employees on a country estate.

I've just come across your posting re Emma Macrae. Emma and her siblings were my grandmother's first cousins. My great-grandmother was Sarah Ann Stevenson, Kate Stevenson's younger sister. I'd love to exchange info on the family and find out more about your branch. Hope you see this.

Hi Viedora.
I don't have Sarah Ann Stevenson on my tree.
Was she a sister of my GGmother Catherine (Kathleen) Ida STEVENSON (c1846-c1900)?
In 1868, she married Donald Macrae who was born c1841 in Inverness, and died 1894, in Londonderry.

I now know that my Gmother Emma was born 1881 in Longford, Ireland.

Regards
Eleanor

Thanks, Sinnan and Aghadowey.

That does look like Emma's birth in Longford.  Pity the parents are not named.
It could well be her father Donald's death, 'Londonderry Insurance Agent', as he did seem to move around.
Yes, I had found a birth record for Kate (spelt correctly!)  on family search, and also on Ancestry.
I hadn't found that marriage record for Donald, only the corresponding one for Kate, which didn't name Donald's father.  Alarmed to find the father's name listed as John Macrae, as family records have him as Duncan, but perhaps he was 'John Duncan'.  I'll need to search again for his birth.
I knew Donald had been married before, but hadn't found anything!

You guys are great  - thank you so much

Thank you so much, Sinnan.  I have been looking for Emma's birth for 4 years!
Thank you for the info on Kate and Frederick too.
The father, Donald, was born in Inverness, married in Dublin, and first child Annie was born in Ayrshire - so yes, it does seem that he moved about a bit!  I don't know where he died!
