The Will and wealth acquisition is interesting. The family certainly farmed alot of land. The Goodings who the Davy family married into twice were also large and generational land owners and farmers. I have added all the provided information to family search. I spent all yesterday adding Davy/Davey family to family search from Genuki only to find they've disappeared today. Jone Davy was one. I usually copy all the trees I add but only copied the ones directly relating to John Davy. I had also conducted a search for Maria Davy with no matches, only to find you found a marriage for her. So thank you Neal61. You seem to have the magic touch. I'm not finding much satisfaction with the Taylor family...they seem to be spread all over Devon and Somerset.

Oh my you are marvellous at navigating the websites. That is amazing. Yes I was having a little difficulty in deciphering the text. So good to find a sister for John and another connection to the Gooding family. I may yet find births for Elizabeth Taylor and George Davy. I'm desperate to find a connection between Elizabeth Taylor and this family....https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LXSB-YKK

As Mary Ann Taylor's husband Charles George Mason was owner of Beenleigh Manor Farm Estate in Harbertonford where John Davy lived in the 1861 census before emigrating to Australia. And then we come full circle where he names his farm in Queensland Australia, Beenleigh.
Pieces of the puzzle are coming together. Thank you Neale1961

Thank you for the link. I see one has to  pay to view documents at the National Archive. May have to take the plunge. You believe you can somehow access it for free?
I had seen a George Davy connected with an Elizabeth Taylor but without the Will I couldn't make a connection to John the son. So thank you.
I see the findmypast transcript for marriage has the father's name as George. I had swapped between the 2 names. I can't remember why I swapped back to John.
I believe having the 2 sources seals the data as accurate.
The death information had his father as John, hence my hesitation.
I appreciate your assistance.

Devon / DAVEY from DEVON
« on: Saturday 28 December 24 05:13 GMT (UK)  »
Hello, the town I live in, in Queensland Australia was named after the Beenleigh Manor Farm estate near Harbertonford, Devon. The man who emigrated to Australia from Devon was John Davy with his wife Mary Gooding Davy and brother in law Francis Gooding.

I am trying to find the family of John Davy.

https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LY65-2FH
The link has all the info on John that I have under memories and story.

The cemetery paper inscription says that his father was John Davy and mother Elizabeth Taylor.
I don't know where they got that info from, not for want of asking.
I haven't found the couple whose dates match his age.
I wonder if anyone has access to the 1841 Census for Devon?

He was born in Bampton, Devon about 1818- no christening info for him. His birth info from 1851 Census and death year and age. Davy seems to have been spelt Davey on the christening records. The only John in Bampton was 1807 from Genuki.
1861 Census in Harbertonford.
Emigrated in 1862.
Returned for a visit in 1882 but can't find any passenger lists for him.
I have added a John Davey from GENUKI to family search born in Bampton in 1792 and could be his father but haven't got a marriage for him.

Not sure where to turn from here. Advice appreciated.

Australia Lookups completed / Re: Richard and Phillis HICKMAN went to Tasmania
« on: Tuesday 05 November 24 03:31 GMT (UK)  »
Hello Roy family, good to see recent activity on this thread.

I can't find any trees that include a George Burdett and a Theresa Hickman.

I have created a tree from census records on Family Search ID KKSH-P52 of a George Burdett born 1847 whose wife was Theresa b 1845 (no surname) who was from Lincolnshire.

Their children span from 1870 to 1886 - Theresa, Esther, George Charles, Rachel, John and Florence christened in Soho London.
Does this look anything like your tree?

Hello Kerry,

I hope you are doing well after so many years since our last correspondence.
We wrote years ago about Richard Hickmer/Hickman.
I am trying to clean up my Funnell lines and there seems to be alot of inconsistencies in Ancestry trees etc.
I am linking Thomas Funnell and Sarah Mott father of John Funnell b 1763 father of Phillis Funnell. Some trees have Thomas as being born in 1719 and married to 4 women at different times but the marriage register to Sarah Mott says that he was a bachelor and I have him born in 1730 married in 1760. The link to your Funnell tree on this forum seems to be broken. Is there a way to send you a private message? Denise

I know this is an old thread but was excited to see the information as I am a cousin of Gavin Paterson's 2nd wife, Jane Jeffrey. Thanks Rodeo for your work there that has given me his parents birth year and his 1st wife's name. Excellent!

Sussex / Re: James Hickman

The information I have is
Richard Hickmore (1690)=Elizabeth Mills
son
Richard Hickmore (1718/1720)=Elizabeth Lassender
son
Richard Hickmore (1742)=Ann Thomas     brother      William Hickmore (1747)=???Mary Baker
son James Hickmer (chr 11 July 1779)                    son James Hickmer (1787)=??Sarah Gander
son Richard Hickmer (chr 2 July 1815) chiddingly
If you have any evidence of names and dates
of William Hickmore and wife
James (1787) and wife
and Richard (1815) and wife that would be marvellous?????

I'm descended hopefully from Richard Hickmore and Ann Thomas so our common ancestor
would be Elizabeth Lassender and Richard Hickmore (1718/1720)
Our family's issue is we can't verify whether any of the John Hickmer's changed their name to Richard Hickmore (Hickman) which was the name of my great-great-great grandfather who emigrated to Australia in 1841.
