I have now traced the family as far back as a marriage record for John Lynch and Margaret Harkins for. 1852 in All Saints church Taughboyne. There don't seem to be any records for before that date. Is that as far as I am likely to get?

Thanks folks, I now can't find the original document so can't give a bigger sample of writing. I think Freel sounds most likely for the top name and Sara for the bottom one. Happy to be corrected though.

Yup, choked to death during a seizure attributed to epilepsy- though his family sought clarification around that after the war -presumably as he didnt seem to have suffered from epilepsy- having been an active member of the INV as well as passing the army medical.
