Hello Theli p
It has been a while but I do have more information. Alice was Alice Blake. She had son Frank out of wedlock in Jan 1892 and married Harry Halford Trangmar in April 1892. They had two daughters, Florence b 1893 and Margaret b 1895. Harry died in Colchester on 23/3/1900. As you know, in the 1901 census Alice and the children are living as Lampers with James and Hannah and Alice is described as a widow.I have her death certificate and there she is described as widow of Alfred Henry Lamper, Blacksmith. I still cannot find Alfred's birth or death, nor his marriage to Alice. So some answers but still lots of questions.

Hello Theli
I hope you pick this up.  I still have had no luck with Alfred Lamper but I have found his "wife" Alice and the three children. Alice was born Alice Blake and had Frank out of wedlock. Shortly afterwards she married Harry Halford Trangmar and they had two daughters, Florence and Margaret Alice. Harry died in 1900. In the 1901 census the whole family is using the name Lamper.  This name also appears on all the death and marriage certificates I have.  So I have solved some of the problem but not Alfred Lamper.  Harry Trangmar's father was James Trangmar. The Lampers and the Trangmars seem to be very closely knit.

Hello Thelma
The Lampers are driving me crazy.  I knew all the details you have given. Alfred H Lamper is a real problem. I assumed he was born in London because Hannah and James were not married but I have been unable to find a birth record. He must have died before 1901, but I cannot find a death record, nor his marriage to Alice. I have found some Military records for an Alfred Lamper born in Brighton in 1870 but that information does not tie up with the census records. I have a copy of Florence Lamper's marriage in 1914 but that doesn't help much.  And I cannot find a record of her birth nor that of Frank and Margaret. Florence and Margaret were both lovely ladies by the way.  My late father-in-law was the informant on Frank Lamper's death certificate. What I really want is their birth certificates so that I can find out Alice's maiden name.  It is so frustrating.  Regards  Patsy Anne

Thanks Roy G.  I have read all the post and would like to contact the person who posted them but don't know how. I can confirm for her that Alfred H Lamper was married to Alice and they had the three children, Frank, Florence and Margaret. But, like her, I have been unable to find any further info on Alfred's birth, his marriage to Alice or his death or the births of the three children.

I too am researching the Lampers.  Florence Lamper was my children's Great Grandmother.  Her father was Alfred H Lamper.  I believe he was born before his parents, James Lamper and Hannah Trangmar, were married.  I have been unable to find a birth, marriage or death record for him, nor birth records for the three children, Frank, Florence and Margaret. I have been trying to get a birth certificate so that I can find out the maiden name of their mother, Alice. Any information would be much appreciated. (I am new to RootsChat so am not quite sure how it works.
