Hightown is the modern, local name of Whitwood Mere which has been adopted by usage, it is not as you seem to suggest that the church is in a different  area. All Saints, Whitwood Mere is these days  referred to as All Saints, Hightown  but still occupies the same position as when it was built in 1865

If the burial records gives a section ref this map may help narrow it down. It should be noted that if your relative is in the old cemetery which is on the left, not the right as noted before then the grave registers showing who is buried in each ply is lost.http://www.yorkshireindexers.info/wiki/index.php?title=Castleford_Cemetery

Pontefract St Giles has NEVER had a burial ground.

All Saints Pontefract was the original Parish Church but was so badly damaged in the Civil War that the Chapel of Ease, St Giles became the Parish Church.

All interments were continued in All Saints burial ground.

All Saints was re-opened for use in 1842, some 200 years after it was closed.

Burials from St Giles, did not stop in 1810, I don't know where this information is from, even after the Cemetery opened some families were still buried in All Saints Graveyard, much of which no longer exists.

Hi Debbie,

According to my records, Stephen CRESSWELL and Hannah BROUGH (m: 8 Jul 1805 Denby DBY) had at least six children, Enoch (1814), Micah (1816), Quinton (1818), Jedediah (1820), Napthali (1822) and Elizabeth (1830).

Jedediah CRESWELL (bapt. 3 Dec 1820 Denby DBY) moved to the Ashby de la Zouch area of Leicestershire in the early 1840s, and married Sarah Ann STARKEY (c1821-1909) in 1842.  They had several children as follows:
- Elijah CRESSWELL (c1842-1917) m: Sarah CAMPION (1840-1903)
- Daughter CRESSWELL (?)
- Mary Jane CRESSWELL (c1850-1921) m: William EYLEY (1857-1906)
- Sarah Ann CRESSWELL (c1853-1919) m: George FAIRBROTHER (c1853-1917)
- John Henry CRESSWELL (1857-) m: Ann(e) LUNN (1845-1922)
- Albert E. CRESSWELL (c1863-) m: Eliza

From about 1855 onwards, the family lived in Church Gresley, Derbyshire.  I should point out that I am not closeley related to this family, but have researched them because they are connected with several other South Derbyshire families.  If you need anything further about the family, just say the word  :)

Regards and best wishes,

There was also Phoebe 1806 and my ancestor Christopher born 1807 married Elizabeth Riley in 1830

Hi all,

My son has caught the family research bug and has started the search for his paternal line.

Grandma is a Cresswell and the line is as follows:

Her father; Joseph Cresswell Born 1921

Jedadiah Cresswell Born 1823 M Sarah?

Stepen Cresswell Born 1783 M Hannah Brough

Joesph Creswell Born 1751 M Sarah Elliot

All born around Denby, Derbyshire. Anyone else on the same line.

Regards

Debbie

I am a descendant of Stephen Cresswell & Hannah Brough, are you sure of the parents you have cited for him?

Stephen was baptised in 1783, Denby Derbyshire son of Joseph.
The marriage of a Joseph Cresswell to Sarah Elliott was not until 11 Feb 1799 (16 years after Stephen was born), so not his parents.
