That's good then. Luke Howison has been setting up this website, with the assistance of archives. It's really good, and I use it all the time.  https://ash.howison.co.nz/?name

Have you got in information yet? It can get costly if you order 3. Maybe better to get an idea of date of death and place of death.

Thanks Maddy. That was some help. Does Australia have it's own "Searching passenger lists" like NZ?

Thanks Dundee. Are the records not available on line - like New Zealand?

Looking for the shipping list with Ng Chuen Yik (or Ng Chuen Yip). He departed ex-Auckland on SS Marama bound for Sydney on 4 February 1927. Can any one point me in the right direction for a ship from Sydney to Hong Kong - possibly later February 1927.

Mt Father's cousin has died, age over 90. So I guess I will never know the answer to my puzzle. I should have to deduce that Uncle Joe never went to China - and hence never came back at age 8.

That's the puzzle. His kids don't know, and I was too young to know. But not likely that anyone in the family would have taken him back. I have one other person to ask - if she is still alive. Just need to find that lady - she was over 90 at the time covid 19 hit, and her grandson was made redundant at the same time as my daughter - so have lost contact with him.

Yes that's right. His family left on the Monowai on 18 May 1934, under different names. And he is definitely not on the list.  https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KGM3-V6Q
