Hello,

Ive tried having a look but havent been able to find anything useful.

Is it possible to find adoption records for someone born from 1890 to 1910s. if so could you please point me in the right direction?

Many Thanks!

what a bummer :( yeah i double checked my list and i did ask for a mix of death notices and estate files and the 1 mortgage bond. and all i got was death notices.

well thats handy to know some of the death notices have next to nothing but the deceased name and their address.

thanks for your advise :)

Hi All, just an update on my experience.

i paid for my documents by EFT Electronic Funds Transfer. I started doing it via online banking but unfortunately the minimum transfer is $100 Australian dollars and mine was well under this. So i went to the bank to do the EFT. Emailed a copy of the paper work to the lovely Henry (he is such a lovely person). I went to the bank on the 30.09.14 and Henry posted the documents on the 27.10.14 and i very excitedly received them yesterday 25.11.2014!!! so a little less than 2 months!!! i thought i wouldnt get it until next year with the strike.

I was just wondering if anyone could advise, when i sent the request for documents there was a mix of Estate papers, death notices and a mortgage bond but when i got the documents they were all only death notices. but i did notice at the very bottom of the notice it asks questions about movable/ unmovable property and estate over 300.00 is this all the information that you get that relates to estate the person had left? i was just expecting estate documents and 1 mortgage bond aswell as death notices as per what i found on the archives site?

and just one more question, im guessing some of the information on the death notice especially regarding parents of the deceased / partner and children is only as accurate as the informant knows?

thanks a million :)

Hi All,

Im a bit excited as iv found my first ancestor that was a convict via rootsweb.com

the information iv found is;

George ROSENDALE
Birth: 1784 in Fowlmere, Cambridgeshire, England
Death: 13 Oct 1869 in Newtown, Tasmania, Australia
Event: was tried and sentenced to 7 years Generic 15 Jan 1819 Cambridgeshire, England
Immigration: 11 Sep 1819 Tasmania, Australia
Event: immigrated on board the convict ship Dromedery Generic 10 Jan 1820 Tasmania, Australia

iv looked up the ship Dromedery and found George listed as a convict however im super interested to know what his crime was and i dont know where to look and the google searches iv put in arnt giving me much information.

is there a specific website i can go to find out more detail?

thanks millions :)

another brilliant tip i never thought to think that ages could be changed for certain reasons. explains a lot now thinking back on some records iv looked at.

this family tree stuff is very addictive the more you find the more you want to and NEED to know!! but these tips are really invaluable i will have to go back on some stuff and look again as i ruled out certain records as the birth date and ages ect were sometimes widely different from one record to another so i assumed they must be the right names but belong to someone else as the ages just didnt match at all. so i have plenty food for thought now!! thanks again these tips are great!!

Hi Judith. thats great advise i didnt know that ID wasnt asked for back then but i guess it makes sense. i like the advise on the marriage cert thats very handy to know that they may be a bit more reliable source of information. would that be the same as birth? as you would assume its the parents registering a birth of a child?

thanks for your advise/tips makes looking at records a bit easier knowing what you guys have taught me. thanks again!!!  :)
