Hello!
Thank you for the swift response,I didn't expect a reply so quickly! It's great to connect with you especially as we have Charles Thorne in common. I think I have actually spoke to one relative from your family a few years back because I recall discovering that Charles has a Daughter previous to My Grandfather and his Brother some time ago, it was a surprising discovery as my own father hasn't a clue of this (I have chose not to tell him due to his age) as I was originally researching another mystery who is Leslie Vivian Thorne, my Grandad's older brother who my father was not allowed to see or know of. It's all a bit cloak and dagger. Anyway I do have Charles's service records  which reveal that Charles never married my Great Grandmother Alice and I am currently following a lead that suggests he may have married Alice Teresa Dexter in 1893, but this is not confirmed. I could send you this if you were interested, also I'd love any info you have on Charles and Catherine as believe they had a daughter of the same name who would have been my Grandad'a half sister.  :)

Thank you, I checked out the National Archives and it appears that Alice didn't marry Charles as she is refereed to as Mrs Garner. The address that is given is actually an address that we already had for Alice as she was an Artist and had signed and written the same address on the back of one of her paintings that we still have in the family. :)

That is very strange because my father told me that my great grandfather had died which was why my grandad signed up for WW1 under age. I am aware that Beresford Thorne is listed as serving in the first world war as I have checked this, therefore I believed that part to be true. I wonder if there is a possibility that my Grandfathers father wasn't Charles William Thorne and was the son of Beresford Cazenove Scott who died 1907.

My grandfather was Beresford Cazenove Thorne born 1901 -1988 he married Emma Brown, 2 children Anthony and Patricia and his elder brother was Leslie Vivian Thorne 1900-1942 he is buried in Egypt and married to Amy cousins, they also had 2 children June and Patricia. The problem I am having is finding out if Alice was married to Charles as it appears he was married to another lady called Catherine before and also some records say that charles may have been dead before my grandfather was born. Also there is a reference to Beresford Cazenove Scott on some other sites.

Hello, I am currently researching my Great Grandparents Charles William Thorne (Fleet Engineer) and Alice Ann Elizabeth Garner who lived in Saltash Cornwall around 1897-ish. I am having trouble finding out anything about them for some reason, can anyone help me out? Thank you.

Hello,
I am the Great Granddaughter of Charles William Thorne, I have been researching my Grandfather Beresford Cazenove Thorne who is apparently the second son of Charles and his second wife Alice Ann Elizabeth Garner, but there appears to be some evidence that doesn't add up in the Thorne family tree. I wonder if you have any knowledge of Charles?
