New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: McChesney immigration to NZ

Hi Anita,
Very disappointed that I didn't write your email down this morning when I first looked at your post.
I would love to see what information you have re the Wilsons.
Perhaps you can do as "Spades" suggested, and then you can PM me your email again?
I don't find RootsChat overly easy to use, so hope we can manage to connect somehow.
Thanks
Sherry

Thanks heaps Janette! Sounds like he had a colourful history with his war records. This has given me heaps to go on. There was also something odd about his death - it wasn't long after his son was killed in the war, and with all the comments re Gonorrahea perhaps he was mad! So will need to fin dhow to view the records re his inquest. I didn't even realise he has been in WW1 - and then to lose his son in WW2 - would send anyone nuts.

Hi all,
Big brick wall with this one. My Great-grandfather is Percy Norman Jones - Born in Woodville in Dec 1898 to parents Albert and Katherine. I can find no further details on his parents. I have tried searching NZ birth records for Albert, but nothing.
He married by great grandmother Annie Kovaleski in 1915 (I think).
Any ideas how I could find about Albert, and what Katherine's maiden name might be?
Regards
Sherry

Hi all,
No I wasn't aware of any of those sites - that Cyclopedia is excellent. Yes Crowsfeet, there is a James Wilson - he was one of the children of the first James who came to NZ.
Thanks for the tip minnihaha, and will go and have a look at those papers.

Wow! That is great - yes lots of info on the family here. They had around 14 children, although I think a few of the first ones didn't survive. Joseph, one of the first sons, was my ggrandfather.
I just googled as you suggested - that is brilliant! What a great write-up!
Thank you so much for your help.

New Zealand Completed Requests / McChesney immigration to NZ
« on: Saturday 27 September 14 06:19 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,
I was wondering if there was an easy way of finding when my McChesney relatives first arrived in NZ. James McChesney and his wife Eliza came somewhere between 1872 and 1875 with their son (my great great grandfather) Joseph. They came from Ireland, and settled in Marton NZ but I can't find an immigration record or ship list that has them listed.
Anyone able to help please?
Thanks
Sherry

New Zealand Completed Requests / Re: Ludlams in New Zealand

Hi there,
Yes I have heard and read plenty about him, but cant find where he is connected to my family. The first relative of mine to come to NZ was a George Ludlam. There are too many of them in the history records for me to be able to track back any further at the moment. I will get there one day I hope!

Thank you so much - this is all now fitting together amazingly.
And to now have his parents details as well - awesome.
It also gels with the family names - I had assumed that his father was possibly William due to the name being handed down the generations, and Mary Ann works as well.

Essex Lookup Requests / George Ludlam

Hi. Looking for any records associated with George Ludlam, born around 1839, possibly in Essex. He left England, and was known to depart from South Africa in 1864 for New Zealand. Wanting to find parents and any other siblings if possible.
Regards
Sherry
