United States of America / Researching New York families after 1940 census
« on: Sunday 04 June 17 21:15 BST (UK)  »
Hi there!
I am researching family in New York. I was wondering does anyone know how to find family after the 1940 census? Any advice welcome!
Thanks

No, never found Catherine's death for sure. Yeah I have come across a few Dina's and researched them more. One for instance seemed to be a pet name maybe as she was baptised Bridget or something like that. Another was really called Diana. She has been a mystery for a while now so maybe something will turn up some day! Thanks again for your suggestions Rosinish!

Yeah Im searching other variants of the name, nothing positive showing up yet.
Catherine was informant for death, and marked as wife!

To be honest I don't think she is actually their daughter. James dies a few years later aged 80+ and Catherine had to be well past 40 as well. Can't find any Dina/Dinah being registered either. Wondering if she was a legitimate child or maybe a grand-daughter! All a mystery for now! :)

Thanks. Yeah I know Dina was what it is transcribed as but wondering what a different set of eyes might see!
Never thought of Geraldine, thanks Rosinish!
Any other suggestions as to what "Dina" might signify are most welcome! thanks again for replying guys!

Hi there,
Could anyone help me decipher the 3rd name on this census record attached? The first two I know are James and Catherine, finding it tricky to make out the third name, thanks!

Cork / Finding a marriage!
« on: Wednesday 03 August 16 16:57 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I'm looking for marriage certs for family who married in the West Cork area, but I'm having trouble finding them. They say in the census they are married but when I check the civil records there is no marriage for their names. They would have married in the 1890s-1900s.
Has anyone ever come across this before? Is it possible they married in the UK/U.S and returned home? Finding it strange that it's not just 1 family!
Any ideas welcome!

By the way, I am not sure if you have come across these, but just in case:
In Eliza's baptism the sponsors and Atterridge and Power. For Agnes Louise, both sponsors were Powers. Then for this child Maria Teresa O'Regan - the parents are Charles Regan and Heleana Power - maybe an error by the priest - an Alderidge is a sponsor. Here is the link -  http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/44f4290156051 Just an observation in case you have not come across them.
