Thank you Scotmum, I thought I might be lucky to still make contact with jeanhemm.  I shall follow the other post you recommended shortly.

Thanks also to Bannerman for the hint about reading Hugh's white writing.

Hi Hugh,

You must be Raymond Sutherland's son.  I'm researching my husband Wayne Sutherland's genealogy.  His father was James Nelson Sutherland, Raymond's older brother, therefore you two are cousins although I believe you have never met. Margaret had a daughter by her first husband.  I have found no marriages for Samuel, George or John, Samuel died 1942, George died 25 Dec 1969, John died 1967.  I hope to find a way of sending you our email address without advertising it to the world so that I can give you information about living people.

Regards BJ Peak

Hi Jean

A David Nelson, farmer, of Gortnamoyagh had a son George who married Fanny Ann Dunlop at Moneydig Presbyterian Church on 27 Jul 1876.  They left Clyde on the "Oamaru" on 23 Sep 1876 and arrived in Otago, New Zealand on 16 Dec 1876.  If he is part of the family you are researching I would like to swap my New Zealand information for your Irish information.
