Thanks for reply Edward.

My sister (who lives in Australia) has reminded me that Jim Junior, son of James and Lois, was in fact our dad's groom when he married mum so they must have been close! She also reminded me that we went to Lois's funeral in 1997 at Gt Brington church, not long after Diana Princess of Wales had hers there, where we definitely met Pat (Lois Patricia) her daughter too.

Val also said that if you were interested her "Stowe" family tree is available for all to see on Ancestry.com and there are lots of Stowes on there. She also sent me this photo of mum and dad's wedding with Jim McBride third from left next to my mum.

Kind regards.

Margaret

Hi Eddie

Came upon your posting by chance when looking for something completely different, as is often the way.

Lois Mary Stowe was my grandfather's sister and I met her at least once in my life - 1987 at my grandmother's funeral.  My grandfather was Ernest Charles Stowe (son of Ernest James who died in WW1) and my grandmother was Mary Margaret Evans - her father incidentally worked as butler at Althorp House until his death in 1930 so more than likely knew your uncle James Parkinson McBride. I was interested to hear that two of James & Lois's three children survive, making them my first cousins once removed I believe!

Please pass on my regards and hope you find this information interesting.

Just picked up on this thread.

I understand you may have connections with Frank George Hewes, Edward Roland Cooke and possibly Albert Thomas Johnson, all of Hardingstone, all died in WW1. I am researching on behalf of the Hardingstone History Society. We are trying to organise a commemoration of soldiers from Hardingstone who fought in WW1 and found this thread. Our commemoration will be ongoing from the centennial of the outbreak in August 1914 to the end in November 1918.

If you can offer any information regarding these people and their descendants who we would like to invite to be involved in our centennial memorials please get back to me.

I am new to rootschat so hope this message gets through to you! Many thanks.

Richard.
