Isle of Man Lookup Requests / Esther and Philip Quirk, possibly from Douglas
« on: Friday 29 July 16 20:38 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find out any information about my 3x great-grandmother, Esther QUIRK and her father, Philip. The information I have is as follows:

Esther married John Blackburn on 7th October 1832 at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church, Liverpool. On the death of her husband, she married William Blackburn  on 29th April 1839 at St. Bride's Church, Liverpool. Her father is given on the marriage record as Philip QUIRK, a mariner.

On the 1851 Census, she is incorrectly recorded as being from Liverpool but in 1861, the census records her as being from Douglas, Isle of Man. 1871 Census records her as simply being from the Isle of Man. She died in 1880 in Liverpool. Census records would put her birth at about 1805.

I have, so far, been unable to find a baptism of an Esther Quirk with a father Philip. Can anyone see something that I might have missed?

Northamptonshire Lookup Requests / Daventry burial/newspaper obituary
« on: Monday 02 May 16 14:58 BST (UK)  »
After many years searching, I think I have finally found my 2x great-auntie & uncle in Daventry, Northamptonshire. They are on the 1939 register living at The Green, Daventry.

I have found a death of John P WHITE in Daventry in March quarter 1951. Would anyone have access to a newspaper obituary or a burial record to confirm that this is the right man? His wife was called Edith WHITE (nee AINSWORTH).

Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Re: Cheshire, FRODSHAM, Churchyard Inscriptions
« on: Monday 02 May 16 14:50 BST (UK)  »
Apologies, Twdyr, as I just realised I hadn't replied!

I knew about the Baxter baptisms - this is definitely my family. The Baxter/Morrow marriage and baptism of Robert Baxter is one I've looked at before and feel it is probably my family but, as yet, cannot prove it. I'm hoping any grave inscriptions may help.

Thanks for taking the time to look.

Robert Baxter (d. 1820)
and any other Baxters!

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Could anyone possibly help me with a document on greengazette.co.za? A friend of mine is trying to trace her family and I noticed that one of them appears in South Africa. The reference is:

Thank you to anyone who can help.

Have you looked at the 1939 Register?

The 1939 Register has the following interesting entries:

Johnson (Rock),  Mary M, born 1898, Location - Paddington, London, England
