Chris. Thank you so much for posting the photos. I think my photo is also Leinster Regiment uniform, probably same vintage as yours? When was your Leinster Regiment photo taken

Offaly (Kings) / Horans of Eglish in 1800s
« on: Monday 02 February 15 09:54 GMT (UK)  »
My great great grandmother was Catherine/Kate Horan.
As per Eglish parish records, she married John Mulligan in Eglish on 01/09/1859.
They lived in Killoughy, and as per 1867 parish records there, Patrick & Mary Horan were godparents to one of their children.
Catherine/Kate Horan died in Killoughey in 1900.
If anyone has information relating to Horans that lived, died, married, rented, inherited, got convicted, etc in Eglish in the early or mid 1800s please let me know.

Offaly (Kings) / Ferbane Egans and Fitzpatricks
« on: Friday 19 December 14 15:49 GMT (UK)  »
Owen Egan from Ferbane (possibly Endrim) and MaryAnn Fitzpatrick from Ferbane (possibly Fadden) married in 1885 aprox and travelled to an uncle in Illinois. Had family in Illinois and gathered up enough money to bring family back to Ireland and purchase a farm in Ballyoran Kilcormac. They are in Ballyoran in 1901 and 1911(owen & maryann with their family eliza, peter, edward, michael, laurence, mary, owen, joseph & annie)
Anyone know if Owen (b1850) and MaryAnn (b1870)  are buried in Kilcormac / Mountbolus / Ferbane

Phil
Good to hear from you.
I agree that there must be a mistake on Teresa marriage certificate and that its her husband, not her father that is the policeman.
As regards dates not tallying, this happens alot with the Irish census. And also with a family of 10 kids (Philip, Patrick, Thomas, Matthew, James, Maria, Teresa, Mary K, Annie Marie and William) moving from Bailieborough in Cavan to Ratoath and then Fairyhouse in Meath and then finally to Killeigh in Offaly, its not surprising that there is confusion over dates of birth!
Would you mind listing the dates and place of birth for Teresa, Mary K, Annie Marie and William
If you are wondering who Matthew might have favored in his will you will see that he left £82 to Annie Larrigy when he died in 1894
