Roscommon / Re: McEvoys of Aughrim Parish and Ardgallagher in Kilmore Parish

Caramarie, I am related to Patrick Carroll who married B McEvoy of Ardgallagher. I cant add anything to your search for the McDevitt connection. However your relative Joe McEvoy still resides in the area and runs an oil distribution business-Roscommon Oil Distribution, at Lecarrow, Cuilmore, Strokestown. He may be able to help you.
Patrick Carroll was 27 years junior to his wife...see 1911 census. They had no family and the farm was left to Patrick's nephew (my grandfathers brother) -Dan Carroll who lived there for some years before moving with his family to Rhue , Kilmore. Anthony Carroll, Dan's son is very well versed in family history and conections. He still lives at Rhue, Kilmore.  Dan also has a son a priest in Mississippi USA- Fr. Brian Carroll. Hope this helps

Roscommon / Re: McCormack of Tulsk

I am descended from the Mc Cormacks of Ogulla Tulsk. My great grandfather was Patrick Mc Cormack amd my grandmother was Kate (Catherine) McCormack. See 1901 and 1911 Census. However I don't know of a relationship between my family and the D'arcys of Kilcooley. However,I know the house where the D'Arcys lived in Kilcooley. Denis b. 1883? never married and died circa 1960's was a well known herdsman with a vast knowledge of remedies and cures for amimals passed down through generations. I have heard many stories about him from my dad. I know some people in the locality who remember him quite well. The D'arcy homestead is now owned by MJ Simpson. The house is intact somewhat and used as a store for hay and is on the Strokestown /Tulsk road.
