Hi, there, thank you so much for replying!

I have found out a LOT more about my Keating family since I wrote that post. My Honora Keating was born in Curravough, Tralee, County Kerry. Her husband William Walsh/Welch was born in Tullamore, Listowel, County Kerry. They met in upstate New York.

I have a LOT posted on Find a Grave and on Ancestry.com about my Walshes and my Keatings, so you might have seen some of my information. (Molly H.)

My family does have a close dna match--- several of us match, including one person who is ONLY related to us through the Keatings of Curravough--- with a descendant of a Keating of Cahersiveen.

I would be interested in hearing what you know, if you think it would pertain. Thank you very much for being willing to help. I appreciate it.
Molly

Hi, Tijom,
That is really kind of you--- thank you so much for the offer.
I have done a huge amount of research since I wrote the above posts. During that time, I discovered that I was looking at the completely wrong Walsh family. I found my actual ancestors in County Kerry, not in County Cork.
I wish I had some questions to ask you--- nothing like having a local to look things up-- but I don't need info in Cork anymore
But I had to let you know that I appreciate your kindness! And I hope the people who do need Cork information will see your offer.
Thank you and all the best to you,
Walsh-seeker

Hello, GAJM,

You posted the following Boston Pilot ad:
"14 March 1868 ELLEN KEATING and CATHERINE KEATING, of Cahirciveen, county Kerry, Ireland. They are daughters of John Keating and Mary Keating (maiden name Mary Laurence Sullivan). Ellen came to this country about 17 years ago, and Alley [sic] and Catherine about five years later. I heard Catherine lived in a place called Winnooskie Falls, near Burlington, in 1862; but I wrote and got no answer. I believe the three sisters were together one time in Burlington, Vermont, some years ago. They might be there still for all I know. Any information of them, dead or alive will be thankfully received by their brother, Cornelius Keating, Penobscot Station, near Whitehaven, Luzerne county, Pennsylvania, in care of David Ross. Volume VI: 1866 - 1870."

I'm trying to find out more about this family, to see if they are related to Honora Keating, my great great grandmother, born circa 1833 in County Kerry. Honora's parents were John and Sarina Keating, according to her death certificate. I think the Sarina must have been a nickname, as I have not seen that name on any Irish records.  Honora married William Welch in New York state in about 1854, and by 1856 they had settled in Wisconsin, where they lived for the rest of their lives.

I found a marriage record for a Katherine Keating who married a Charles Elrie in Burlington, Vermont, on May 6, 1861. The bride's parents were John Keating and Mary. I feel certain she must be the Catherine that Cornelius in the ad above was looking for. But I can't find anything else about this couple, not in censuses or anywhere, nor anything more about Catherine's sisters Ellen and Ally.

Can anyone tell me anything more about this family?
Thank you SO very much!

That's interesting because one of the possibilities for my g-g-g grandmother is a Mary Linehan Walsh. From a baptismal record on rootsireland.ie, she had a husband named John Walsh and son named William born in 1827. (My great great grandfather was William Walsh, born between 1826 and 1828).
I'm not certain Mary Linehan Walsh is the right person; she's just a possibility. But the name Linehan is in my mind because of that, so I will watch for your family members in my searches. Have you checked RootsIreland.ie.? You have to pay to look at records on that site, but it was so worth it to me, because that was how I found where my Walsh line was from in Ireland. No other site had the records.
I will definitely look at the cemetery on Google Earth street view tomorrow. I would love to see this small, old cemetery in Ireland near where my ancestors lived! Thank you!

Hi, ubhig,

Yes, that site was extremely limited! :) I figured it was worth sending your way just in case any of those few names were your ancestors.

As  you are looking at graves in that area, if you by any chance come across a grave for a Mrs. Walsh who died between 1827 and 1839 (my great great great grandmother), I would appreciate it immensely if you would be willing and able to write down the info for me. (I wish I knew her first name, but I don't.) Her husband's name was John Walsh, but his grave would not be with hers because he died later in the U.S.

I understand you will probably be too busy to look for anything other than your own--- this is "just in case." I will do my best to return the favor when I eventually get there, if you need something watched for.  Enjoy your time in the Emerald Isle, and I hope your search is fruitful!

Hi, Ballydw, and thank you for that information. I don't see Templecurraheen on the Historic Graves site nor on the Find a Grave Memorial site, so I may have to save that one for when I come to Ireland! :-)
You said you have been in Ireland, in that area. Is it pretty? I've been in Ireland three times and I've found every place I've been to be beautiful. However I've never been in Cork because I didn't know I had family from Cork until now. There are not too many photos on line of the Ballymacoda Ladysbridge area except for their sports teams! How would you describe the countryside (only if you have time to reply, of course!)

Ballydw, you are extremely helpful and I truly appreciate it!

I would love to know the name of the cemetery in Carrigtwohill! When I have the chance to go to Ireland again I will have to at least look.

I found out that my family lived in Ballymacoda Ladysbridge (for sure--- found the records on Roots Ireland with correct names and birthdates) but the Ballymacoda records do not go back far enough to trace my great great great grandmother, since she died at some point after giving birth to my great great grandfather in 1828. GGG grandfather lived in Ballymacoda with second wife and had three kids there before relocating to U.S. in 1853.

There are a couple of good possibilities for baptism of my gg in Carrigtwohill, but of course I would have to know if the mother died in the right years. (Of course it could all be moot if he was born in Ballymacoda!)

Are you or your family from Ballymacoda as well? I noticed the Bally in your name.
Thanks again!!!
