Hi Jeune, I'm writing as I'm related to you in some way I believe. John Aloysius McCune was my grandfather as he adopted 3 sons Kevin George, Darrell Arthur and Malcolm Ian Bloomer belonging to my grandmother Dorothy Florence May Mullenger.  I'm Kevin's daughter, born in 1978. Sadly I can't help you with any new leads as I'm fairly new to the family, having grown up with my mother, and was estranged from my father (long story). However, I love family history so the information in your post I found very interesting. Would love to hear from you as wasn't aware of any family living in Brisbane.
