Census Lookup and Resource Requests / Re: Census Look up reqd please for Philip Gourlay
« on: Saturday 08 October 11 22:12 BST (UK)  »
Hi Mary
Anne Gourlay was my great grandmother.  Do you have her age and date of death from her gravestone.  Also is her husband Philip buried with her - if so any similar info?
Your cousin Esther sent me lots of stuff about your side of family.  Let me know separately on e-mail at (*) any requests you have, although I imagine you know more than me.

best regards
Pete

Lincolnshire Lookup Requests / Re: Lookup for Fardell
« on: Sunday 21 March 10 17:34 GMT (UK)  »
Hi KBG
thanks for query - I onlyhave the info shown above.  However as can be seen from the christening of James:
James Fardell Christening: 3 JAN 1769, Edenham, Lincolnshire, England (Mormon Index shows as child of “Jas” and Susan)

Susan would have thus been married to your Brian Laseby in 1738 and still young enough to have had my james in 1769.  Possible but not very likely.
However if you have any info on ages or her death then pls let me know.
regards
 Pete

Devon Lookup Requests / Look up Request - 1776 Marriage Silas RICE (RISE)
« on: Thursday 04 December 08 21:45 GMT (UK)  »
Hi - I hope someone can do a lookup for me - Iam interested in the marriage of Silas Rice (or Rise) in 8 April 1776 to Mabel Tucker in Culmstock in Devon in order to trace their children and descendants esp Silas.

I think they were probably the parents of Silas Rice b 1781, possibly inBurlescombe about 2 miles away.

(In the mid 1800s Rice was apparently changed to Rise).

Antrim / Re: Lookup for Robert Nelson please
« on: Sunday 30 November 08 19:03 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks for reply
He died at his sisters house in Indiana - I have lots of personal stuff from that time but it all seems to refer to his sister Margaret Ponti (nee Nelson) and her husband Gaetano Ponti.  I doubt official birth cert would give his original home details
thanks anyway.

Lincolnshire Lookup Requests / Re: Rippingale - Marriage Look up
« on: Sunday 30 November 08 18:58 GMT (UK)  »
Jo
Have just come across your enquiry - This may support info you already have now:
James Fardell married Susannah Warrington 6 Sep 1756 at Edenham Lincolnshire (Mormon Index)
Sarah Fardell Christening 1758, Edenham, Lincolnshire, England (Mormon Index shows as child of James and Susan)
there is also a marriage record for Sarah Fardell to Thomas Barnes on 10 Jul 1783 in Edenham (could be the same Sarah stated christening record above)

My ancestors are the Fardells from around Bourne & Edenham etc

Antrim / Lookup for Robert Nelson please
« on: Sunday 30 November 08 17:46 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all
I am trying to find more background on my g grandfather Robert Nelson b 1845/6 possibly in Belfast.  His father was James Nelson, a painter.

On Robert's marriage certificate for 1865 he married Susannah Broughton in Liverpool.  By this time he was a stonemason.  I don't know when he left Ireland for Liverpool. But he subsequently left Liverpool for the US.

I know its a longshot but based on these few early facts of his life but can anyone help?
thanks

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Re: Lookup please for Fardell
« on: Sunday 30 November 08 13:59 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks Nigel, looks as though you were busy.
Many of the Fardells I already know about , however you have given me a couple of new names and marriages for the 1783 & 97 dates.  I have lots of Sarahs at that time so I think Eleanor Sarah Vickers in 1797 is a definate.

Anyway there is certainly some good width to the Lincs Fardells and perhaps I will look further over the borders.
thanks again
Pete

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Lookup please for Fardell
« on: Monday 24 November 08 21:55 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone
I hope someone can help, I have a number of Lincolnshire Fardells that seem to fizzle out around mid eighteenth century and I wonder if they originated in Leicestershire, given that that county was/is where so many Fardells lived.

My Lincolnshire Fardells descending include;
Thomas Jackson Fardell b Spalding Lincs 1856,
-his mother Sarah Fardell (maiden name) b1833/4, her brothers Henry James Fardell b 1828 and Edward Fardell b 1831, all born in Scottlethorpe, near Edenham, Lincs .
Their father was Edward Fardell b 1804, d 1832 (in/around Edenham).
Edward's father was James Fardell b 1768
Edward's father was also James married Susannah Warrington (or Waddington) in 1756.

After this point it all fades out.
Does anyone have any Fardells that moved into Lincs and are associated with the above?

regards
Pete
