Thanks for that - all we have are these service books - I will send for his service records (but first we'll need a copy of his death cert (which is long-gone), so I'll first wait for that.
cheers

World War Two / RAFVR & WAAF - WW2 - Medals ?
« on: Friday 06 March 20 19:52 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I've just unearthed a couple of service & release books relating to my in-laws.

A WAAF book showing she served Jan 43 to Feb 46 - at 105 Wythall
&
A RAFVR book showing he served Apr 41 to Aug 46 (incl in South Africa Feb 44-Jul 45) - at 54 Operational Trg Unit Church Fenton.

Would they have been given campaign medals (or similar) for their service?

Any advice gratefully received, thank you

Does anyone know if the miniature WW1 replacement medals from messdress.com are double-sided please ?
Other sites show both sides (but are more expensive & don't offer the pin option), so I'd like to use the recommended messdress, but I'd like double-sided miniatures.

Ignore - they've replied & yes they do :)

Agnes's birth cert finally received. (attached)
As suspected, Christopher is named as father.
I've corrected her birth from 1898 to 1896, and I've now started work on Agnes's parents families - the Garvin's (Garavan') & Connor's
Thank you all so much for your input & help

That's Brilliant - thank you.
It's led me to wonder about the 1861 census showing a Bridget Mc Donnell & Mother Mary & a Sister Mary in Liverpool, St Martin (is this Prescot ??) - could this be her mother?

Lancashire / Bridget & James Noon(e) b: abt 1849 Ireland, lived Parr St Helens

Trying to trace James Noon(e) & Wife Bridget (no maiden name) & their birth / ancestors / parents.

James & Bridget born abt 1849 had 3 boys that I’ve traced: Martin 1871, Patrick 1877 & James 1878 (all St Helens area).
Martin married Margaret Johnson. Patrick Noone married Martha Ellen Clegg (no wife for James).

It's this Patrick Noone, the 2nd husband of Martha Ellen Clegg (1887-1934) - (her 1st husband, John Addison died in WW1), who is the direct link to the family tree

I've traced his parents James & Bridget on 1871 census, lodging in Widnes;
in 1881 they are in Parr, St Helens with all 3 boys;
in 1901 they are living with Martin & his wife Margaret (& her dad);
in 1911 Martin & Margaret had Patrick lodging with their family - no sign of James & Bridget after 1901??

I have no surname for Bridget.
No Marriage place/details.
No parents for either James nor Bridget.
I don’t know where in Ireland they came from to start a trace there.

Any help would be much appreciated.
