England / Re: Depear / De Pear family

Just to throw some more information into the mix, I am descended from another line of Depear's which has a few Matthews in it, but I don't think mine match any of the ones you have already mentioned, although they only come from about 5mins down the road in Whaplode. I guess they might join onto some of these other branches further back.

Could you please tell me the title and author of that book, as I would be very interested in looking at it, as I believe one of my family was an architect who designed the Selbourne Dock in Simonstown. Many thanks

Thank you Ruskie and Yokel

I have been looking through those records, but I think I need to get back before 1813 to find him.
The family seems to change Parish a lot, as some of William's Children are born in Heckingham, Loddon and Thurlton, and he got married in Hardley, and died in St Faiths.
I did find the records for those people you mentioned Yokel, and I am only guessing that it is the same James mentioned. I can't prove it conclusively at the moment, which is why I need to find a birth/Baptism record for William to find out. In one place his birth is given as Hautbois instead of Salhouse, so that is my next port of call.

Norfolk Lookup Requests / Salhouse Baptism c1812
« on: Friday 21 March 14 12:36 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to confirm the parents of William JIMBY, born c1812 in Salhouse.
Can anyone find a Baptism entry for him?
I think the parents are James and Margaret, who had at least 4 other children (Emily, Sarah Ann, Ebenezer, James) in the Strumpshaw area.
The surname seems to have various spelling including JIMBY, JUMBY, GINBY, GIMBY, GINBEY depending on the transcription/handwriting.
If anyone can help I would be most appreciative.
Jen
