The young Fowler girl visiting in 1891 is my grandmother Kate Cluley Fowler. Her mother was Ada Elizabeth Fowler who did not marry. I have assumed that Cluley was the surname of the childs father.

I have more info if required.

Hi Geoff. This has been bugging me for some time now. There were many Dodds families in Lincoln, around that time and beyond. I've followed Spilsby and Friskney families in particular, where thay have moved to London, in an effort to find a link. There were other Doddses in Hampshire but I've been unable to find a connection. William and his wife's family all moved to London early 19c where thay remained. (His son's were all shoemakers).

I have always felt, maybe wrongly, that a connection could be found with his employment as a cordwainer.

Near where they lived in London was another large Dodds family, all in the shoemaker trade. If William's age at death was wrongly recorded and should have been 64 then the William Dodds in that family could be the one I'm looking for. That would also have made him older than his wife which appears to have been the norm years ago.

Can someone please throw some light on the following missing person?
Harvey Dodd(s) married Catherine Gresham on 14th May 1781 at Bucknall, Lincs.
IGI records show they had twelve children between 1782 and 1804.

The Familysearch Vital Records Index shows the same twelve children christened at Claxby Pluckacre (which was in the 'Parish' of Bucknall) and a thirteenth child viz:- William Dodds christened 29th July 1787 at Claxby Pluckacre.

It's the elusive William that I am looking for. This is the only William Dodds born c.1787 that I have been able to find but I have not been able to trace his marriage or death.

Is there any chance that someone knows of this family there occupations and movements etc.

My brick wall is William Dodds, a cordwainer who married Rebecca Chick in Portsea, Hants on 9th November 1810 and died on 23rd February 1841 in the Smithfield area of the City of London. His age at death is recorded as 54 years.

Is he the William Dodds son of Harvey and Catherine?

Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Re: Disappearing family

Checking my files I already have info on Eliza and Edwin, twins born to William Dodds and Rachel Keeler. This is another large Dodds family that I am trying to link my Dodds line to. My Doddses lived in Old Seacoal lane, near Fleet Lane circ 1815 and were next found round the corner at Cloth Fair in 1841. So Its getting close.

Thanks Meliora. Thats obviously my Amelia but where the other two have got to is a mystery. I thought they would at least be in the 1851 census. The IGI and Familysearch havent revealed any likely candidates. More sleuth work needed.

Hi Denise.

Brewery Road is actually between caledon ian Road and York Way. It starts opposite Pentonville Prison. Try the Islington Gazette of that time.
