That is John K's second wife - and yes, they were together in 1841 (John William Knighton was born in 1840).

But she is Anne in the 1851 census and Anne Sarah in 1861, and on her marriage certificate ... having said which, this family does have a tendency to change their names quite a lot.

I've ordered her death certificate ... which may (or may not) help.

"I wonder where John's wife Ann is buried?"

I have no idea even when she died ...

I had just come to that conclusion myself - I'll let you know in due course. I'm wondering if JK's second wife died (no record of that, yet) and he remarried a Mary Ann ...

As you say, living in the same house (if you look on Google street view, there's only one Victorian cottage in Eliot Bank), and then being buried in the same cemetery ... a bit of a coincidence!

Thanks for your help,

Sid

You can see (I think) what I've found on Ancestry - family tree Poulton II. And yes, what you say is right. (Being baptised Sarah Cecilia and calling yourself Minnie is to be discouraged, I'd say.)

Indeed ... I have found the Knightons to be v secretive about their roots and their comings and goings.

John Knighton married his second wife, Anne Sarah Hart, 30 Mar 1850, St Andrew, Holborn; the marriage record has his father as William Knighton - I haven't found any other reference to him.

Thank you,

Sid

I should add that this Mary Ann is buried in the same cemetery as John Knighton (1802-1869).
