Hi Eric,
Thank you for the information that you have given me.
I know that there were several Birds baptised in the Independent Chapel in Ridgewell.  Wardell Baynes's mother (Margaret) mentions Wardell in her Will (1810).  At that time Wardell was living in Swainsthorpe, Nr. Norwich.

Best wishes
Margaret

Hi Eric,

Thank you for your speedy reply.

Firstly, are you connected to the Wardell Baynes family?   I have come across some info on this family.  I have looked into this Sophia Baynes (daughter of Wardell) and I can't seem to fit her into my Bird Tree (I am aware that there is a Sophia Baynes on our Tree on Ancestery but I am unsure about it being the right one)
Reason: A Sophia Baynes from Swainsthorpe married a John Mayes in 1811.  Wardell Baynes lived in Swainsthorpe. Sophia Mayes was having children the same time as Sophia Bird (nee Baynes)  Any comments please !!!!!

Can you tell me about the children you have for Hannah and George Baynes (i.e. births and deaths)?

Best wishes
Margaret

Hi Eric,
Thank you for your reply.
There are at least 2 links between the Bird and Baynes family but one, in particular, needs more confirmation. The marriages that I mention are extracted from the Ridgewell Parish Register. (1) A George Hills (son of a Mary Bird) married an Elizabeth Baynes with 2 Birds as witnesses in 1818 (2) a Sophia Baynes (I have yet to find her on any Family Tree) married a Thomas Bird  in 1815.  She died in 1818 aged 27 so must have been born about 1791. (3) A Mary Ann Baynes  married a Thomas Perry in 1816 with a George Baynes as witness. (4) An Elizabeth Bird (sister of Mary Bird)  married a John Baker in 1806 with witnesses being George Bird and William Gowlett Baynes  (5) A Daniel Hills (Father of George Hills) married a Mary Bird in 1789 with a George Baynes was a witness.
The Bird family came from Ridgewell Hall, Ridgewell in Essex.  I am hoping that someone may be able to give me some information on Sophia Baynes.

Best wishes
Margaret

There is an entry for a William Gowlett Baynes in St. Laurence Church, Ridgewell, Essex Parish Register - Baptisms 1785.  Birth is stated as 10 February, 1785 and baptism is 26 June, 1785.  He is the son of George and Hannah Baynes.  Both parents died in Goldhanger, Essex.  There are also other
children baptised in the register.
Best wishes

I am interested in a Sarah Piper the daughter of Edward Piper who married a Josiah Packwood at St. Gregory's Church, Sudbury on 23 January, 1785.  I am hoping that this Piper family is connected to the Piper family that lived in Ridgewell Hall, Ridgewell Essex.  Would also like to know if they are connected to the Chaplin family.
