Thanks for the fast reply and checking it out Ed! I was feeling quite elated at the idea of him having been in Waterloo after having just watched the new Napoleon film - but it wasn't to be. Thanks again!

Hi all, is anyone able to confirm if my 4 x Great-Grandpa, Joseph Lansley, served in the Battle of Waterloo? He was a Gunner in the 4th Battalion Royal Artillery, enlisting on 20 Jun 1812. He was discharged on 31 Oct 1818 due to the loss of his left eye. I assume this was from a combat injury as he was put on a pension of one shilling per day from 1 Nov 1818, which I can't see was ever reduced as he got older given he was receiving the same amount in 1834. I know the 4th Battalion RA had companies in Waterloo, but I'm not sure which company Joseph was in, or which battle/s he fought in. Any help appreciated! Other details about him, he was born in 1793 in Ludgershall, Wiltshire. After being discharged he married and raised a family in Collingbourne Ducis. He died in 1869.

John Gregory (b1817) is my 3xgreat-grandfather. His father was also a John Gregory born 1783 in Ludgershall, Bucks and went to Bicester to become an apprentice cordwainer (shoemaker). He married eleanor timms and they had many children, one being John (b 1817).

John Snr's (b 1783) parents were George Gregory (1752-1831) and Mary Dormer (1752-1815). George was born in Brill, Bucks and Mary in Waddesdon, Bucks.

George's parents were George Gregory (1729-1813) and Ann Irons (b1735) both of Brill.

Hi Gail,

I am also researching Dionesius Kelly, as he is one of my ancestors. Since you have the marriage cert of daniel kelly and Katherine manley, does it list their father's occupations? Also it is possible dionesius was also known as denis.

Looking forward to your response.
