Buckinghamshire / Thomas Kempster, Bucks/Herts
« on: Wednesday 19 February 14 11:30 GMT (UK)  »
Trying to link up my extended Kempster family from Pitstone, Marsworth, Wingrave, Wing, Cublington, Aylesbury Chesham, Amersham, Leighton Buzzard etc with the family of both Ernest D A 'Smiling Jim' Kempster and 1 of the 2 Kempster families now in S Wales who I have traced back to Great Gaddesden, Herts in 18th century, thence further to Thomas Kempster b in/pre 1720 who married Sarah Field 7/11/1738 Hemel Hempstead area, poss Tring. It's possible he was the Thomas bapt May 1720 Tring + buried 13/6/1780 Gt Gaddesden, whose father was also Thomas. Does anyone know a) if this is correct; if so b) where did Thomas senior come from; or c) was the Thomas who married Sarah different and where he came from. I am hoping this is person is the link with my Kempster family in Pitstone, Marsworth, Wingrave, Wing, Cublington, Aylesbury etc. We know there is a direct link as my gndfather and Smiling Jim were great friends and knew each other to be cousins and I met and got to know a S Wales Kempster who had the same family stories.

If this is Joseph Kempster b 13/5/1814 Chesham, Bucks then he + his family are on my tree. In 1861 he was  master of barge Confidence with his wife Jane nee Leaver + children moored at/near Uxbridge, Middx on the Grand Union Canal or a branch canal. They had 6 children and later ran a shop in Ladbroke Grove, W London.  He died there 1902. If so, then I have more details
