Canada Lookup Requests Completed / Thomas REID
« on: Friday 02 December 05 09:49 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone help me trace Thomas REID who emigrated to Canada in July of 1926. He was born in Langholm Dumfriesshire Scotland on Sept 14th 1900, and the son of John REID and Agnes Davidson Wilson.
Thomas sailed on the Aurania from Greenock (Glasgow) to Quebec and arrived at that port on the 25th July. He was to go to an Uncle by the name of Thomas WILSON in Tugaske Sask but never arrived. Thomas sailed alone and was 25 years of age. He had £5 cash with him at the time according to his emmigration records. I'd be grateful if anyone could help.

I have searched Bt directory enquiries and for postcodes etc in the Cambusnethan/Newmains area and can't find one for Brow Farm, have you got the right name? I live one mile from Newmains in the Cambusnethan parish and haven't heard of it. Sorry...

I wonder if anyone out there knows of Jimmy Mackie and his wife Janet MS Reid? they had a son Fergus and lived in Union St Hamilton around the 1950's.
Janet was my grandfather Thomas's sister and I'd like to know if she had any old photos of her mother - my great grandmother who was born in Canonbie Dumfriesshire 1876

:( Can anyone help me find out what happened to Thomas Reid? He emigrated to Canada in July 1926 sailing on The Aurania from Greenock to Quebec. He was supposed to go to an Uncle by the name of Thomas Wilson in Tugaske Sask but never got there. His father's name was John Reid born 1875 in Tundergarth near Lockerbie and his mother was Agnes Davidson Wilson born in Canonbie - they married in Langholm Dumfriesshire in 1900. The family moved to Govanhill Glasgow (Hollybrook street) in the early 1900's. Thomas had two sisters that I know of....Mae and Janet (Jenny). I'd appreciate any help.
