Durham / Re: John Bell Dawdon Inn Keeper

I have lived in Seaham for years and the only pubs or clubs were Dawdon Club and Dawdon Hotel which was demolished about ten years ago. There are several Bell families still in Seaham

Hello Ruthie,

I grew up in County Durham and had many a school visit to the cathedral. A couple of years ago my husband and I decided to climb up the tower. The view was great but I would only recommend the climb for the very fit.

Hello
The Gearys I am looking for both came from County Durham. The names are Keith, Wilfred and Christopher. My brother is named Keith Wilfred after one of them. It may be that they were not in the DLA. The story is that the two young men were in the trenches in the first world war and Christopher looked over the trench and his head was blown off. His brother beside him, Keith Wilfred was blinded and suffered from mental trauma for years afterwards.

This is not the Geary I was looking for although he must be a relative. The names I have are, Christopher, Keith or Wilfred.

I know there was an Arthur and Francis Conlon who ended up  in Coundon.
The Rileys came to England in the late 1800s.

Hello

I am trying to trace a Geary who died in the first world war. He was in the DLA and was shot in the head.

Hello

I am researching the O'Reilly or Riley family who left for England and also the Conlon family who ended up in Coundon, County Durham.
