Hi information from Malcolm Bulls Calderdale Companion     Shibden Industrial school or other name industrial school of the good Shepherd.  It stood in Shibden Hall Rd Southowram Halifax.Est.1877 by John Lister,to provide training for about 150 catholic boys  from deprived social backgrounds, It had chapel workshops swimming bath and gymnasium . [sounds very modern for its time]  .boys left at 15 and were encouraged to emigrate  many going to jobs in Canada.     lots more info from Malcolm Bulls Calderdale Companion'     Regards     nancy T F H

Hi Jensav    I remember Montserratt Mills Tong St Bradford .The Smith family mill was called  E J Smith .and they were woolcombers. later to be taken over by Woolcomber's  Ltd .Bradford. The Mill was directly behind a row of houses ,the end house is 511 Tong St.Bradford ,They are still there today.I know this because my friend lived at 511 and we played around  Montserratt Mills in the 1950's. cant remember when the mills were demolished possibly the 1960's Tong Conservative Club was next door ,And Tong Cemetery just on the opposite side of the rd. [Tong St.].
