Yes, you are right. I recall the name from a brief bit of research I did 20 years ago and then lost. Can't thank you enough. This may be the clue to unlocking more about William.

Fair point.
Is there anyone in New Zealand descended from the Marven's of Wickham Bishops?

Hi JJ,
This is plausible,Ellen was born in 1832.
William had M. as a middle initial if that helps.
He married the girl Pettit in the nearby parish of Great Whelnetham about 1853ish.
He was at one point a gardener,I think.
Sorry to be so vague,
Regards,
William.

Many thanks for the offers of help. What an amazingly helpful bunch of people on here.Yes those Marven families are related and they go back to James born 1792 who moved to Wickham Bishops from Mayland.
I know that at least one Marven family emigrated to New Zealand,in one instance to Palmerston North on North Island.I once spotted a post, on another site, from NZ written by a descendant but was unable to get my response to "travel".Any hints or tips greatly appreciated.

Many thanks for the offers of help.I've just arrived here, what an amazingly helpful bunch of people.
My great great grandmother was Ellen Craske. Her son, born out of wedlock, was George Harry Craske.
George's father was William Cornish(he went on to marry a Pettit).I would very much like to know how William relates to the other Cornish's in Stanningfield. Any help would be greatly valued.
