Cornwall / Stephen Blight and Mary Kemp
« on: Friday 04 September 15 14:50 BST (UK)  »
Stephen and Mary were married in Illogan, Cornwall on 24 Mar 1804.  One of their children, Hannah then married James Jeffery on 13 Jul 1840 also in Illogan.  I have been searching and searching for the parents of Mary Kemp.  According to records of here in later census, it seems that Mary was born in Illogan about 1782.  If anyone has any connection or any idea of how to locate her parents I would be very pleased.  It seems that I just meet dead-ends.

Hannah Blight who married James Jeffery on 13 Jul 1840 in Illogen was the daughter of Mary Kemp and Stephen Blight.  James and Hannah had seven children on of which was named Stephen Blight Jeffery.  He was my grandmothers father.

Thank You All, I have seen the census and the baptisims but there are so many Mary Lukes from this general time that I was hoping to more positively confirm her parents as John Luke and Mary Vincent.  I will certainly post if I find something more definite.  There are a number of family trees that I have found online that include this abraham and mary but her ancestors do not always match.  Just tring to find something definite.

Cornwall / Abraham and Mary Turner

Abraham Turner (1810-1873) married Mary Luke (1810-1871) on Feb 2, 1932.  They were the parents of my great-grandmother Elizabeth Turner who married Stephen Blight Jeffery.  I am trying to definitely determine who Mary's parents were and the dates associated with their births, deaths, and marriage.  if anyone shares these people in their family tree and can give me something definite I would greatly appreciate it.

I need to correct a wrong statement:  Stephen did not die in a mining accident.  He was working as a carpenter for an English company that was building train stations in south Africa.  He was there only about three years when he became ill with dysentery.  He was alone when he became ill and by the time help came to him he was too ill to recover.  He died Jan 31, 1899.  My grandmother, was his daughter and she was 11 years old at the time.  My mother, her daughter just told me this story about his death.  Sorry for the error, I was confusing him with one of his sons who was killed in a mining accident in Cornwall around 1919.

So interesting when I found this blog tonight.  I am from Stephen Blight Jeffery who was Hannah and James son.  I would be very interested in any help you could give me on this family, or the ancestors and/or any sites with good information.  I know that Stephen, who was my grandmothers father, was killed in a mining accident in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1899.
