Hi Ray

it was fantastic to hear from you, My mother did a lot of family research years ago, a long time before the internet.

She also did a lot on the Gleeson/Madden family, and even went to Malta for info.

My mother always told us the story of how her mother Elizabeth, in 1944 asked her to go to the church in Nightingale Sq, Balham, whilst in the confession box with my mother waiting outside,
she keeled over and died. My mother was 20 at the time. She went on to bring up her siblings as a mother, as she was the oldest.

My mother said Elizabeth had a stressful life, her daughter Cathleen died aged 9, her husband Cecil had died of meningitus and her mother Catherine Madden died on Balham High st, on a Zebra crossing, hit by a bus.

It looks like you have done a lot of research yourself.

I have never met Brian son of Rosaleen, my mother said she moved to Ireland, but sorry to say we have not had contact. It would be good to communicate with him.

Thank you for the information, it would be great to learn more, As I said previously we have some photo's I could send you.

Kind regards

Colin

Hi Everyone

My grandfather was Cecil Archibald Burrage who died before I was born.

My mother Daphne Short nee Burrage is still alive. We used to live at Wandsworth Common not far from his grave.

I also live in Surbiton. If anyone has any records I would love to hear from you.

I have done some research and also have some photographs

Colin
