Anyone know of or have a photo of Robert Owen Hampson (B. 1852)?

Or know of any direct descendants of his that are alive?

Hi Frank,

Thanks for the posting - too bad no gravestone.  I have seen some of the discussion of ROH and from the paper trail I have, well, he is something!

I am from Eliza Cottier, the "lady" he lived with in the 1890's (while still married to Susan).  I do have some history from Angela re:  Hannah & her kids, Susan & her kids.  ROH parents Jane Owen And James Hampson.

Eliza was mother to the Jane #1 you mentioned.  Then also mother to Owen, Jane #2 (lived to adulthood) and Philip.  My grandfather we believe was Owen ... however we knew him as James Reginald Hollingsworth.   Sometime around 1896/98 Eliza returned to the IOM with the boys, Jane #2 went to relatives in IOM and then back in St Helens.  Where Eliza returned sometime between 1901-1905 with Philip, and died in 1910.

Owen went to the Industrial Home at Strathallan Hall 1899-1905, then Canada.  Philip remained with Eliza until 1906/7, when he went to the Liverpool Sheltering Home and to Canada 1909ish.

That's it in a nutshell.  Recent DNA connects myself to the grandaughter of Philip and we are waiting DNA for connection to Jane #2.  The paper trail indicates we are Hampson's biologically.  Trying to get to the bottom of it all.

Would love more info - both facts and conjecture.  Many unanswered questions.

Cheers

Hello!

I am looking to connect with others related to the Hampson family of Runcorn.  Recently learned that Robert Owen Hampson was likely my grandfather's father.  Eliza Cottier was his mother.  My grandfather was a Home Child sent to Canada in 1905 ... his background a mystery we are trying to solve.
