Thanks very much for this information on Edward Jones and his possible father John Edwards, I have Edward Jones in 1851 Census at Teilia Bach as a farmer of 134 acres, employing 3 men, and it seems to confuse me even more, he named his eldest son John Edwards( farmers son) aged 15 years, presumably after his father, also in the household is yet another John Edwards(Servant) aged 18 years
Also listed in the household is Edward Jones mother, Jane Roberts aged 86 years, a Widow.
So Edward Roberts
of Brynhir, Trawsfynydd NLW B/1809/131. could be a father for Edward Jones.
I found the tithe apportionment and associated maps etc very interesting and helpful and am grateful for the link to https://places.library.wales/ very useful tool, just a case of me now seeking out and going through the parish registers and graveyard inscriptions for
Ffestiniog, and then the neighbouring parishes of Maentwrog and
Trawsfynydd.
Many thanks again Graf for your help and advice.

Thanks very much hanes teulu  for you welcome link, it looks very much like the Robert Edwards I am looking for, same Bwlch Farm and around same time period, £94-12 -4d, Ouch that must have hit his pockets.  I will look further into your link libraries, once again thanks.

CaroleW, thanks very much for your reply, Robert Edwards parents having the Jones surname, as far as I know has something to do with a very old Welsh naming custom, children in order of birth were named after parents 1st/2nd names, grandparents 1st/2nd names etc, any ideas anybody ?
Basically I'm just throwing out a request to see if anybody with Welsh Ancestry and interests in the Festiniog area have any knowledge of this family or their neighbours.
One family story is of Roberts son William(my great grandfather) leaving home as a teenager to find work in the coal mines of St.Helens, Lancashire,  Robert chased after him twice to fetch him back home, on leaving home a third time, Robert said he can stay there. Who can blame him !
