Great Research Hanes
Had just found Dependents Pension Card for the Mother Maria nee McKay for Sons Harold and Robert they were born of 11 Children
Harold's 1914/15 Star showed he Enlisted into the 2nd Btn and went Overseas with them on 14 April 1915 then Transferred to 3rd Btn and finally back to 2nd Btn with whom he was Killed with on 27 February 1918 as 19748

Thank you. That explains the transfer from one battalion to the other.  Looks like I need to further investigate why he was in Ireland c 1914.

 ;D

The Newspaper article may not be fully correct.
-He may have already been in the East Lancs Regt as a Territorial-
the 2nd Btn  had a Barracks there from 1883 probably Cork

 Great Research ShaunJ
I find Researching Soldiers that I can't find at First their Bith Details it is usually because they were born under another name and not the name they later grew up under and served and Died under.
They often adopt their Step Father's Surname
I think ShaunJ's theory that Eastham is possibly his Mother's
Elizabeth Ann King married Charles Eastham in Brentford June 1881
They had a Son Charles in 1884 albeit Charles R
Charles Edward had been in the Army pre 1914 before rejoining in Seaforth Liverpool in August 1914 and  wounded  Home in March 1915
