Bedfordshire Lookup Requests / Re: Looking for Ada Saunders

My grandmother was brought up by her aunt. I get the impression Ada did not have a great deal to do with her daughter. This may well have helped her marry eventually.

The Common Room / Re: Will RootsChat be of help to you?

It was of immediate help to me. Within 24 hours of my original query, I'd had a lot of useful advice from a number of people. Now i'm looking to see if I can help anyone else.

A friend, who uses it quite frequently, recommended it. Still getting to grips with it all though.

May Saunders was brought up with her cousin Millie in West Ham and later Dunstable and Luton. In the 1911 census she is living with her grandmother, Elizabeth Saunders, her aunt Jane Court and her cousins Millicent and Arthur Court. There seems to be no mention of Ada but I believe she was alive until at least 1927 as my mother remembers her.

To my knowledge she never married. My grandmother was Lilian May Cartwright Saunders. I have a copy of her birth certificate which gives no name for the father. Family legend has it that Cartwright was his surname.

No. I have nothing after 1891. there is a death in 1933 but that is for Ada J. Saunders in Bedford and I was unsure if it was her or not.
