Thanks John915 I have seen this 2008 post before and have a copy
As I said he was in the windsor Foresters militia and afterwards he signed up as an ordinary soldier from 1800 to 1813 in the peninsular war latterly as corporal winning a medal and bar at Vimiero!
However it is the Scottish places where the Windsor foresters might have been billeted etc that i am interested to look for a marriage.

hello there my ancestor John Parr from Birmingham seems to have fought through all of the peninsular war except Waterloo. He was married  to a jane who came from (somewhere in) Scotland ! however when i found his army records it states that he served in the Windsor Foresters from 1794 to 1800( joining ar 16)  and they were in Scotland protecting us from french invasion by the back door.So i summise that this is where he met jane and so any information about the windsor foresters would be useful to me particularly any places or parishes where they were stationed or even mentioned. these would all be places that i could look if i get to scotland
