A deed from the early sixteenth century refers to land in Pyrreford, Stafford; can anyone tell me where exactly Pyrreford was, or is?

On a Death Certificate of 1837, the "where died" is shown as "1071 Buttershaw" and the "residence of informant" as "1059 Moor Top."  Does anyone know how these numbers relate to a person's dwelling,  when no street or lane name is mentioned?

I know what you mean about the toxic lead; my painter ancestors must have been aware too - they lived into their 70s and 80s!  Tressel's "The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists" paints a knowledgeable picture of  Edwardian painters'  lives.  Individuals may have been too poor for photos but firm owners may have had records, hence my question.

The 1880s version of the Territorials were the Rifle Volunteers, before that, the Yeomanry; try looking on Google for "West Yorks Volunteers" or similar and you should find the units recruiting in and around the area  thatn you're interested in.

Does anyone have information on the antecedents of the Reverend John Pye of Sheffield who was active mid-18th century?  He was to become the maternal grandfather of Dr Pye Smith, the Victorian religious theorist.

Can anyone point me in the direction of info and photos of Victorian plasterers and painters/ plastering/ painting? Many of my ancestors followed these trades.
