Wiltshire / Re: WILKINS/BUNTER or HUNTER ? Family,Salisbury area,Wilts.

I've ordered a couple of Bunter wills, £5 each !  I also looked at the Wilkins wills and saw that there were Wilkins's at Donhead St Mary in the 15 and 1600's, which makes me wonder whether that's where they came from all along ?

Thanks for your help :)

Hello Janey,

Thanks for that advice, sometimes when you've been hunting ancestors for years you can easily forget to do some of the simplest of checks...i.e. check wills :)

Susannah was baptized in 1716 and married Francis Haskol in 1737 at Donhead St Andrew. Their daughter Christian was my 6 x ggrandmother. Christian married Thomas Wilkins in 1767 at DSA. You mention Ogbourne St Andrew being the address of Christian Wilkins, widow. She was widowed in 1775 and I wondered if you meant Ogbourne or Donhead ?  I'll take a look myself and thank you.

It's definitely Bunter and NOT Hunter, I've found Susannah's birth in Donhead but it doesn't name her parents ( much teeth gnashing)  I think I can work out who the parents were but not 100% on this at the moment.

Rob, I'll let you know if I come across any of your Wilkins, but nothing to offer at the mo.

Thomas Wilkins is still a complete mystery to me. I have found two possibles for him in Tisbury but nothing more positive.

Here are some further details...

Frank George Adams born 21 Nov 1907 Bournemouth,Dorset,UK. He married Ivy Silverton in the UK and I'm told he died in 1988 in Australia. There were four children, at least one is deceased, not sure about the others. A third brother Albert emigrated to Australia late in life in the 1980's. My mum used to write to him when he was alive but we no longer have any contact.

Their father was George Beechum Adams born 15 Mar 1873, Charney,Berkshire.

In the 1950's my grandfather's brothers and families emigrated to Australia. One of the brothers was called Frank Adams and he was born around 1910 in Bournemouth,Dorset,UK.
If anyone has knowledge of this family, I'm trying to trace living relatives.
