Searching the CWGC website, you will see 3 KEH men were killed in Dublin 1916. All from the 2nd battalion KEH and most likely your ancestor's unit.

There are several records in Ancestry for Walter Bolus. He Served initially as a private in King Edwards Horse, serving in France from June 1916. He was later commissioned as an Officer on 22/02/1918.

As regards service in Ireland, units of the KEH was involved in the fighting in Dublin in the April 1916 rebellion. Some of his comrades were killed in action. As he was a private in 1916, he would not have been in charge of the execution but would have been part of the firing party - doing the shooting.

Within the firing party, some of the rifiles were loaded with blanks instead of real bullets. The theory being no one would know if they fired a fatal shot or not.

Hi,

No I don't know who it is. That is a good spot, i looked at those records recently and did not pick up the reference to "grandmother".

I guess that it is Frederick Rooney's mother as Theresa Moore's mother was a Theresa Sharpe.
And I guess she re-married a man name McCarthy.

Wow, that is really impressive work Annette. Thank you very much I really appreciate your efforts.
I had saw this Bevan family in Meole Brace, but was frustrated that it did not fit properly.
But this looks really promising.

@Sue thanks very much for the marriage cert, it does look like Bevan. I am going to have a closer look tomorrow.

Thanks very much for all the responses.
The birth year is a bit confusing. In the 1901 census Annie was recorded as 36 & in 1911 as a mere 39! (I am ignoring the later)

The Atcham Bevan looks interesting. I have found some possibles, but I am never able to progress further. I think I just don't know where best to look.

Have you any suggestions on websites to use?
Ideally looking for a site that you could search for the marriage between a Richard Bevan & Elizabeth Jones?

Thanks for all the help.

Shropshire / Annie Bevan Shrewsbury b circa 1865

Hello,

Could anyone advise how best to find out more about my GGGrandmother Annie Bevan of Shrewsbury. Annie married in Dublin in 1881 - naming her parents as Richard Bevan & Elizabeth Jones of Shrewsbury. She married as second time in 1898 in Dublin using the same details. The 1901 Dublin census implies she was born approx. 1865 & as a Roman Catholic.

I am interested to find out more about the Shrewsbury connection. I tried 'findmypast' & ancestry.com and the various English census - but i did not really find likely matches. I am not very familiar with English Genealogy sites. So I would appreciate any suggestions.

Hi,

There is a 'Sarah Sharp' recorded as god parent on Mary E Rooney's baptism 1864

Possibly an aunt of Teresa Moore.

Hi GenSearcher

Is this your GG grandparents family (John Rooney & Esther May) here?

Hi GenSearcher

Did you find out any more about this Frederick Rooney?

I am guessing you are referring to a son of John Rooney and not the Frederick Rooney(born 27/08/1875) who was a brother of John Rooney's?
