I've just found some details on the back of one of the photographs which reads:
Daenen Dieudonne
Photofilmeur
181 Rue des Guides
Seraing

So, this may be the area where my grandfather was living when he married.

I'm looking for more information on my g grandfather's marriage. His name was Clayton Alexander Robertson (b.24 June 1894) and her name was Jessie Solimko. They married in Winnipeg, Manitoba on 30 June 1921. Any help gratefully received.

Is there a way of obtaining BMD records instead of paying $12 to go through the Canadian Vital Stats Agency?

Thanks Leen. I knew it was a tall ask. I have records to prove my grandfather's details (he died in 1973) and I have photographs of their wedding, etc and their daughter but nothing else. I don't know really where to start with this and finding the region, etc.

I'm struggling to find information concerning my grandfather's first marriage in Belgium and wondered if anyone on here could assist. I know he married on 30 June 1945. His bride was called Fabienne. However, I do not know where in Belgium they got married or her maiden name. I understand though that they had a child called Jessica Mae and that Fabienne may have already been pregnant with this child when they got married. Any suggestions where I should start to look. I have already contacted the Belgium authorities who were not very helpful. Thank you in anticipation.

The Common Room / Alexander Robertson
« on: Sunday 10 November 13 17:47 GMT (UK)  »
I'm researching my gg grandfather Alexander Robertson and gg grandmother Rachel Fitzsimmonds. As I understand it he was born in Ontario, Canada around 1859. She was born in Quebec, Canada around 1861. Alexander's origins began in Scotland. However, Alexander and Robertson are such common names throughout Scotland it's difficult to know where to start. At some stage they must have taken the boat to emigrate to Canada, but when? There are common family names past down through the ages too. Some children were given the name Clayton and others Clyde as a middle name. My grandfather was called Allan Clyde Robertson and his father Clayton Alexander Robertson. Where does one start with this of research? Any help gratefully received. Many thanks in anticipation
